Episode 355: Why does navigating uncertainty feel so difficult?

Navigating uncertainty can feel hard even when nothing is actually wrong, and the link between uncertainty and anxiety runs much deeper than most people realise.

Whether it’s a big life question or something as small as waiting on a reply, not knowing has a way of taking up far more space in your head than it logically should… and the harder you try to think your way out of it, the more stressful uncertainty seems to feel. The real reason for that is probably not what you’d expect… and once you see it, the fear of the unknown stops being so confusing and becomes something you can actually work with.

This week in the Let’s Talk About Mental Health podcast, I’m getting into what’s really going on when uncertainty gets under your skin, along with practical and realistic ways of living with uncertainty that don’t require you to have every answer first.

👉 Ready to discover how to navigate uncertainty, even when it feels impossible? Then let’s talk!

💡 TL;DR: Uncertainty isn’t hard because you’re bad at coping; it’s tough for a reason that’s far older than you’d think, and understanding it changes how you handle not knowing. Episode 355 is about how to navigate uncertainty while also protecting your peace. 🙂

Tip of the Week:

And while you’re thinking about navigating uncertainty… here’s a tip from my archives, specifically Episode 276 about managing stress (given just how stressful uncertainty can be!):

Learning how to handle stress well means you’re not just reacting to problems, you’re preventing them from running your life.

From the episode: “Stress is always going to be a part of life, but it doesn’t have to control you. The way you manage it makes all the difference: how you respond, what you prioritise, and how you take care of yourself. You have more power over stress than you might realise… and the more you practice looking after your wellbeing, the stronger and more resilient you become.”

And if you’d like a refresher on managing stress, go and check out Episode 276. This is not the best way to do it, just FYI:

A middle-aged man in a suit with glasses is angrily smashing a bag on a table in an office setting, surrounded by light-colored curtains and filing cabinets.

And finally… you may have heard me mention in this week’s episode (and last week’s) that I have a 12-week group coaching program called Protecting Your Peace On Purpose coming in late January 2027… doors will open on October 25, 2026 but if you’re keen then you can head to ltamh.com/programs and submit your details to register your interest now. I’ll be sharing all the details in this newsletter on October 25 (and a few days earlier for my Patreon supporters, who will also get a 20% discount on the program).

Have a great week! 😃
