It’s time for my weekly round-up of tips for better mental health! Each week I share a handful of things I’ve come across that I find interesting, intriguing and inspirational, plus I tell you about anything interesting that’s coming up on my weekly podcast, Let’s Talk About Mental Health, or just generally in terms of my work. So… let’s talk!

Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃
It never ceases to amaze me how so many people have zero filter when it comes to their opinions.
Not to mention how many people seem to think their opinions are the only correct ones in the world.
We’re all individuals, and we’re all unique, and there are almost-infinite ways to go about this thing we call life… and the fact is that every single one of us is making this stuff up as we go along, because nobody has it all figured out.
Which is why the sheer hubris and self-importance of people who feel compelled to share their opinion on anything and everything never ceases to amaze me.
Opinions are just noise, and they don’t matter in the big scheme of things. They’re very closely linked to being judgemental, whether that’s intentional or not, and frankly I don’t have time for people who are busy judging others when they should be working on improving themselves, since none of us are perfect.
Here’s my thing: if you don’t like something, that’s fine! Find something else. But don’t stamp your feet and expect the world to bend to your will. Be an adult and move forward; we don’t all need to hear your opinions, especially when they’re not constructive.
So here is one simple, actionable tip for you to try this week: Any time you come across opinions (especially the noisy ones), breathe and then just let that nonsense go; it’s just someone who hasn’t figured out how to not be judgemental or inconsiderate.
Until our next talk, have a fantastic week!
Jeremy 😃

I have a sister that always has an opinion……and its always negative. She is very opinionated and ready to tell me how I “should ” do things. Grrrrrr.
Anxious to hear this episode.
Grrrr indeed! This isn’t a topic I’m currently covering (I just talk about random topics in the weekly newsletter) but I did cover Opinions all the way back in Episode 21 (early 2020!) so that may be helpful, here’s the link: https://letstalkaboutmentalhealth.com.au/2020/03/02/lets-talk-about-opinions/ All the best! 😃
