Mindful Moments Matter (Thursday Thoughts: 11 May, 2023)

If it’s Thursday then it must be time for my weekly round-up of tips for better mental health! Each week I share a handful of things I’ve come across that I find interesting, intriguing and inspirational, plus I tell you about anything interesting that’s coming up on my weekly podcast, Let’s Talk About Mental Health, or just generally in terms of my work. So… let’s talk!

Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃

Incorporating mindfulness into our daily lives has been shown to improve mental health, reduce stress, and increase self-awareness… so, you know, all the good things! But who has the time to spend ages meditating or staring at their third chakra? I don’t know about you, but I’ve got things to do!

The good news is that it doesn’t need to be anything elaborate in order to make a positive difference for your mental health. I’ve found that even just a few minutes of mindfulness practice each day can make a noticeable difference in my overall wellbeing (and as I’ve shared previously, I often combine it with some time to just sit with a cup of tea or coffee and watch the clouds drift by in the sky; a few minutes of that will have you feeling pretty grounded!).

I encourage you to give daily mindfulness a try for the next couple of weeks. Start by setting aside just 5-10 minutes each day to engage in a simple practice, such as focusing on your breath, observing your thoughts without judgement, or tuning into the sensations of your body. Remember, it’s just about being present and aware of the moment… it really doesn’t have to be any more elaborate than that. Give it a go, and you might be surprised at the positive impact it has on your mental health and daily life!

So my question for you this week is: how will you create some space for a bit of simple mindfulness in your day? Let me know in the comments!

Now, without any further ado… greetings and salutations, and a very warm welcome to another newsletter. I hope you enjoy my quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one of them will make you smile/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week!

Jeremy 🙂
