Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃

***If you’re not interested in my thoughts about Queen Elizabeth II’s recent passing, jump to the next paragraph because I have an announcement to make!***

Well, it certainly has been a history-making week hasn’t it? I was quite shocked on Friday morning (September 9) to wake up and discover that the Queen had died; the initial news of her failing health came an hour or so after I went to bed and so it had all happened by the time I woke up at 5am. Frankly, it’s quite a shock since she’s the only Queen that most of us have ever known and she has always been a kind of benevolent grandmother-figure in the background throughout most of our lives. I am neither a monarchist nor a republican, so I don’t really hold any strong feelings on the fact that Australia still has a monarch as our official head of state, but I’m quite certain that for many of us that’s something we just accepted out of respect for Queen Elizabeth II so it will certainly be very interesting to see what happens over the coming months and years. I will say, however, that there has been a lot of chatter in both the traditional media and on social media about the way forward and, quite frankly, my view is that, the same as when someone in your own family dies, it’s disrespectful to start any discussions until a respectable amount of time has passed; at the very least, wait until after the funeral. Loss takes time to process and part of that journey involves figuring out what the future could and should look like, but now is the time to honour the life and legacy of an individual… regardless of what you personally may think about the institution she represented.

On a different note, I am delighted to announce that, effective today (September 15), I will now be posting videos on my YouTube channel twice a week with new videos being released every Thursday and Sunday. These videos cover the same topics as my podcast (Sundays are the same as the current episode, Thursdays revisit an old topic) however I’m having a lot of fun revising the content and adding additional tips and techniques for better mental health. You’ll find today’s video, about identifying your priorities, linked at the bottom of this email.

So without any further ado… greetings and salutations, and a very warm welcome to another newsletter. I hope you enjoy my quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one of them will make you smile/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week!

Jeremy 🙂
