Why should you prioritise your mental health? (Thursday Thoughts: 13 June, 2024)

Do you sometimes feel like prioritising your mental health is easier said than done? In this issue of Thursday Thoughts, I’m sharing why tending to your mental wellbeing is crucial and how a few small daily habits can make all the difference. Ready to nurture your mind? Then let’s talk!

Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃

Have you ever found yourself juggling a million and one tasks and then realising that, somewhere along the way, you’ve forgotten to take care of the most important person in your life: yourself? It can be all too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives… but when it comes to your mental health, it’s crucial to hit the pause button and check in with yourself regularly and to make looking after yourself (physically and mentally) a high priority.

Think of your mental health like a garden; if you don’t tend to it regularly, the weeds of stress and anxiety can take over leaving you feeling overwhelmed and out of sorts. Just like a garden needs water, sunlight, and a bit of love, your mind needs attention, care, and a healthy dash of kindness in order to thrive.

So, why is prioritising your mental health so important? Simply put, it forms the foundation for everything we do. When our minds are in a good place, we’re better equipped to handle life’s challenges, make thoughtful decisions, and build meaningful relationships. It’s not about eliminating stress entirely — that’s about as realistic as expecting to win the lottery every week! — but, instead, it’s about building your resilience and creating a toolkit of strategies that help you navigate through life’s ups and downs.

So here’s my tip of the week: each day, set aside just ten minutes for a mental health check-in. This could be through meditation, journaling, or even a quiet walk in the park. Use this time to reflect on how you’re feeling, what you’re grateful for, and what you might need to adjust in your routine to feel more balanced. It’s a small commitment that can yield big rewards.

And remember: taking care of your mental health isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. Here’s to a healthier, happier you!

Until our next talk,

Jeremy 😃
