It’s time for my weekly round-up of tips for better mental health! Each week I share a handful of things I’ve come across that I find interesting, intriguing and inspirational, plus I tell you about anything interesting that’s coming up on my weekly podcast, Let’s Talk About Mental Health, or just generally in terms of my work. So… let’s talk!

Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃

As we hurtle towards the end of the year, does anyone else feel like they’re running a marathon with the finish line in sight, yet seemingly just out of reach? It’s a curious time, isn’t it? We’re told it’s the season to wind down, but often, it feels quite the opposite. There’s a flurry of tasks to complete before we can finally take that much-needed break. It’s like we’re all collectively holding our breath, waiting for the moment we can exhale and relax.

In this whirlwind of ‘finishing things off’, it’s so easy to forget to take a moment for ourselves. We push our needs to the back burner, promising ourselves we’ll relax ‘once everything is done’. But let’s pause and ask: is it really beneficial to wait?

So, here is one simple tip you can put into action this week: For this week’s tip, let’s try something different. Each day, no matter how busy, carve out a ‘sanctuary time’ for yourself. Just 10-15 minutes where you do something solely for your own enjoyment or relaxation. It could be sipping a cup of tea while listening to your favourite song, a short walk, or even just sitting quietly and doing nothing. The key is to make this a non-negotiable part of your day, a small oasis amidst the chaos.

Remember, it’s not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to find peace within it. Taking these small moments for ourselves can help us reach the year’s end feeling accomplished, yes, but also balanced and fulfilled.

Until our next talk,

Jeremy 😃

💯 My absolute favourite post this week:

I just so happen to have covered secrets as this week’s podcast topic (linked below) so I saved this one to coincide with it… long story short, understand the heavy price secrets can have on your mental health and really consider if it’s worth the cost. Sometimes it’s better to rip the band-aid off and get it over and done with, rather than prolonging the situation and torturing yourself at the same time.
