It’s time for my weekly round-up of tips for better mental health! Each week I share a handful of things I’ve come across that I find interesting, intriguing and inspirational, plus I tell you about anything interesting that’s coming up on my weekly podcast, Let’s Talk About Mental Health, or just generally in terms of my work. So… let’s talk!

Hello Talkers! 👋🗣😃
This week, I found myself pondering that age-old saying: “Laughter is the best medicine.” It sounds quaint, doesn’t it? But does it still ring true?
I, for one, think it does.
In our fast-paced, often stressful lives, we sometimes forget the sheer, unadulterated joy and relief that a good chuckle or a deep belly laugh can bring. So, let’s talk about why laughter might just be an underrated hero in our mental health toolkit.
Laughter, it turns out, is a bit of a workout for the brain. It engages multiple regions, sparking a cascade of feel-good chemicals that can ease anxiety and release stress. It’s like a natural antidote to the pressures of modern life. And, beyond all of that, it feels good; who doesn’t like to laugh?!
But how often do we consciously make room for laughter in our day-to-day existence? Not often enough, I would wager… and that’s what I want to encourage you to focus over the next week.
So, here is one simple and actionable tip for the week: Try to incorporate more laughter into your daily routine. It could be watching a funny TV show, sharing a joke with a friend, or even attending a local comedy night. The aim is to actively seek out experiences that make you laugh and consciously engage with them.
Remember, in the pursuit of happiness, sometimes the simplest acts, like laughing, can be the most profound.
Until our next talk,
Jeremy 😃
